As close to the day of the 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, the number of domestic and international tourists to Dien Bien are rising rapidly. According to the statistics of the Dien Bien province tourism, the average daily 4-5 thousand tourists visit the relics of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign on these days. Only from 15 March to 15 April, the number of visitors has reached more than 85 thousand visitors, including nearly 2 thousand international visitors.
On these days, in the destinations such as A1 Hill Relic, Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument, showrooms Dien Bien Phu Victory… always flocked with lines of people visiting and taking souvenir photos. Most tourists are the veterans who participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign and veterans in other historical periods; pupils and students represented for the younger generation come to learn more about the value of winning “illustrious earth tremors five continents” .
Gia Huy Phan, Dien Bien Phu veteran from Vinh Phuc, comes back after 60 years touched “In the Dien Bien Phu campaign, I was captain of the Army Medical Regiment 675, directly serve wounded soldiers in the campaign. Returning to Dien Bien Phu after 60 years, seeing this desolate land has changed dramatically with more prosperous and more civilized, I am together with my comrades extremely proud of contribution to its change.”
Visitors to Dien Bien increase is a good sign for the tourism industry in Dien Bien province. According to the provincial tourism prediction, during late April and early May, especially in time of opening ceremony of the Dien Bien Phu Historic Victory, the number of visitors will also rise further.
