Vietnam visa for retired Indian citizens

Dear e-Vietnamvisa,

My wife and I are retired and we both hold India passport. Now we are living in Singapore on a social long stay visa. We plan to travel through South East Asia countries by train, during the month of August, 2014. Do we need a visa to enter and re-enter Vietnam during our journey?

ANSWER

Hi Mr and Mrs Kathesth,

Vietnam visa is required for India passport holders to travel Vietnam. Since you plan to enter and re-enter Vietnam by train, you will need to apply for multiple entry Vietnam visa at the Vietnam Embassy in Singapore beforehand as below:

Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore

Fax: (65) 6462 5936

Afternoon: 2.30 PM – 5.30 PM
Visa hours: Monday – Friday 9.00 AM – 12.00 PM

Required documents

– Requirements: You will need to present a 6 months validity passport (at least), a visa application form, and other documents requested by the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore. Sometime, a letter of invitation is required (depending on the Vietnamese immigration policies in specific time). At present 2014, Indian citizens have no longer to provide this type of paperwork anymore. However, it can change without prior notice.
A letter of invitation from applicant’s sponsor/host in Vietnam explaining the relationship to the applicant and the purpose of travel to Vietnam. In addition, the letter must indicate the length of stay, place of stay, and host’s name and contact information. The applicants can visit the embassy directly to apply for Vietnam visa in person or send the documents by post.

– Processing time: It takes 4 – 5 working days to process a tourist visa.

– Fee: The fees are various among embassies; for instance, it is about US$60 in Bangkok, Thailand and a little bit higher in Singapore.

Hope this will help!
